Newsletter     August  2001      Academic Taekwondo

 Dear Parents and Students,

I would like to welcome all new and returning students to our 2001-2002 Taekwondo training.

We will set many new goals in the areas of physical fitness, endurance, self-discipline, public presentations, and technical skills. Some of the short-term goals include learning new/basic techniques and combinations, Korean vocabulary and the Taekwondo codes of ethics. These culminate by a  promotion to the next belt level. With our two hours per week training in class, plus 10-15 minutes daily practice at home, these goals can be attained in 6-8 weeks.

The long term goals include continuous improvements in physical strength and techniques, leadership skills, self-discipline, patience, respect, attainment of a Black Belt, or even a National Champion’s title.

In order to compete at the National Level the student must first qualify for the State Team by winning either a gold, silver, or bronze medal at the official State Championships. Each State will send their top three competitors to compete for a national title at the Junior Olympics.

Our National Team Competitors extend their appreciation to the 2000-2001 PTA for helping them obtain the special Team Florida Uniforms.
