We
are almost at the finish line concerning our do-jang renovation. Although the
training, during the last three months was somewhat affected by the
construction noises, dust and other unexpected occurrences, our students
demonstrated fine examples of cooperation and determination as they reached
their goals at the November 18, 2000 promotion graduation.
Benjamin
Ward (grade 8) earned a Junior Black Belt (1st
degree),
Hidemi Hayshi
(grade 4) and Franky Suriano (grade 7) became Probationary Black Belts, and
sixty other students (grades K-8) stepped up in color belt ranks.
Over
twenty-nine percent of students, from grade 3 through middle school, currently
hold a rank of a Red or a Black Belt. Twenty-seven percent (grades 2-8) work at the intermediate levels of Blue and Brown Belts.

promotion test award.

to Promotion Requirements
Starting
this grading period (November 2000), all Taekwondo promotion applicants are
required to obtain written
verification of their good conduct from their homeroom teacher, and two
additional teachers. A column for teacher evaluation on Respect/Conduct has
been added to the promotion application form.
