Newsletter     April  2001      Academic Taekwondo

Dear Parents and Students,

This year we will have the largest competition team, ever, to head for the 2001 Florida State Team try-outs in Sarasota, FL, on April 20-21, 2001.

In order to represent our school in “style” , increase our school team spirit and to generate funds for our overall Taekwondo program, our Taekwondo Moms have established a booster club.

We would like our competition team and all accompanying family members to dress uniformly in our custom printed team T-shirts.  This shirt was designed so that it can be worn to various taekwondo events, such as competitions and demonstrations.

A T-Shirt order form was sent home on Friday, April 6th. Please return it by Wednesday, April 11 (tomorrow, before the spring break) so that our competitors and supporting members can proudly wear their shirts at the Florida State Championships.

Make checks payable to Weiss School PTA. Make sure to write tour name on the order form! Thank you for your continued support of our program.

YEAR-END PROMOTION  & TAEKWONDO AWARDS

We are right on schedule in our last Taekwondo training cycle for the 2000-2001 school year. Students, in all grades, are refining their forms, kicking combos and all other belt level requirements, including their vocabulary. With additional home practice, they should be ready for pre-testing, which is held during class on April 30 through May 4th, 2001.

Please note:

A recommendation for promotion cannot be issued to any student who fails to meet the minimum technical or attendance requirements. A student who accumulates four or more marks during the current training cycle may try again at the next training cycle. (Marks accumulate by coming late or unprepared to class, and/or failing to observe the Do-jang rules).

 SPRING BREAK 2001

Please note that there are no classes from Thursday, April 12th - 20th, 2001.
