2000 Unified Youth Sports Festival

I would like to extend a very special thank you, on behalf of the Palm Beach County Sports Institute, to Joseph Greene, Tatsuaki Hayashi, and Mrs. Mitsuki Greene for helping to make the Sixth Annual, 2000 Unified Youth Sports Festival another spectacular event, on April 15, 2000.

The above persons helped run the Taekwondo Clinics at this event.

2000 Youth Sports Achievement Award

Tatsuaki Hayashi was given the honor to do the torch-run and to light the Olympic torch at the opening ceremonies of the festival, which annually attracts nearly 1,000 participants (ages K-12) from Palm Beach County. Due to the weather conditions, the opening ceremonies were changed from the Blum Stadium to the Dwyer High school gym.

The Palm Beach County Sports Institute selects, three times a year, outstanding athletes (from among all the Palm Beach County schools) to receive a Youth Sports Achievement Award presented by Aim Riverside Press. The winners are based on the academic and athletic achievement of the chosen student athletes. One male and one female is chosen in each of the following categories:  Elementary, Middle, and High School.

Tatsuaki Hayashi is the winner of the Youth Sports Achievement Award for the second round in the Elementary School category, thereby becoming one of the three finalists to compete for the Palm Beach County’s Athlete of the Year Award. The finals will take place in July 2000.
