On June 4, 1993, Anthony Weiss, then 11, became the First Person in the United States to receive a Taekwondo Black Belt in Elementary School Physical Education.

 

Since Anthony's promotion in 1993, 28 other students have received Kukkiwon Black Belts (ranging from 1st to 3rd degree)  through this  fully accredited (FCIS) stand-alone program. This year, alone, an additional four students (from grades 4 to 8) will have successfully completed their training for a Black Belt.

2003 Black Belts

Many students, after moving on to high schools (or other locations), continue their training at commercial studios or through our extra-curricular Advanced Taekwondo training program.  Some Black Belts serve as instructor's assistants in the elementary level After-School Taekwondo classes to gain more leadership training, and at the same time accumulating community service hours, which are required by local high schools.
